Leaders in Women’s Health (LIWH) is a coalition of people who since 2011 have come together with one purpose: to eliminate health disparities, particularly related to BIPOC individuals. We envision a world where all people have access to all aspects of health, no matter the color of their skin, socio-economic status, or gender.
Our Breast Health Navigator Program, also known as SistahFriends, was established to navigate women over 40 to their screening mammogram appointments. After learning that Black women in Pierce County had the highest mortality rate, Leaders in Women's Health created this program as a way of providing education and assistance to individuals in need. This program currently partners with the Carol Milgard Breast Center and Virginia Mason Franciscan Health.
If you need assistance with scheduling your screening mammogram appointment, please visit https://bit.ly/3RawdFg and our Breast Health Navigators will contact you with more info.
Leaders in Women's Health meets monthly every second Wednesday of the month at 8am and hosts educational programs throughout the year. Each meeting focuses on a topic addressing the needs of our BIPOC community in regards to health. If you are interested in joining our meetings, please fill out a contact form.
If you are interested in getting involved with our programs or would like to speak with someone from our team, contact us!
